You can find us at number 33 in the Shri Devi Ratan Complex. It’s right there at Agyaram Devi Square on Subhash Chandra Road. Being so close to the Cotton Market means the whole area is always bustling with activity, especially in the early hours of the morning when the trucks are moving. The air around here usually smells like the market and there is always a layer of dust on the windows no matter how often we clean them. Our office is a small space filled with ledgers and product catalogs for farming gear. We spend most of our time talking to people who come in from the nearby villages looking for help with their crops or equipment. It gets pretty loud outside with the honking and the shouting from the market stalls, so we usually have to keep the door shut. There is a small counter where we sit and talk to customers and a back room where we keep some of the smaller inventory. My cousin helps me out with the daily tasks and we usually share a tiffin around one o'clock. We’ve been part of this market community for a long time and we know almost everyone on this block. It’s a gritty, busy place but it’s where the real work happens. We don't use fancy computers for everything; sometimes a pen and paper are still the best way to keep track of things. We just try to keep things moving for the farmers.
