You can find us at Shop No. 50 inside the Kalamna Mirchi Market. If you’ve ever been there, you know how crazy it gets. There are bags of chillies everywhere you look. It’s loud and the air is full of that spicy smell that makes your eyes water. We spend our whole day in that small shop. It’s mostly just us moving sacks around and talking to buyers. We don't have a lot of room to sit down. The market starts very early, sometimes before the sun is even up. That is when the trucks come in. We have to be there to check the loads. It’s a lot of shouting and haggling over prices. That’s just how the market works. We don’t have a fancy logo or any glossy brochures. Our business is built on just showing up every day. Some days are slower than others, but there is always something to sweep or stack. We’ve known the other shop owners for years. It’s like a small community in there. We drink tea from the stall next door and talk about the weather and the crops. It’s a rough kind of job, but we are used to it. The floor of Shop No. 50 is hard concrete. By the end of the day, your feet really feel it. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that rattle.
