Prince Saloon

Prince Saloon is located on Medical Road in Nagpur, over in the Chandrabhaga Nagar area. It’s a straightforward men’s salon. I’ve lived in Nagpur my whole life and this road is always packed with people going toward the hospitals or the market nearby. My shop is small but it has everything needed for a haircut or a shave. I have the old-style chairs that lean back. They are a bit worn now, but they still work fine for the job. The walls have a few pictures of different hair styles, mostly from several years ago. I start my day by sharpening the razors and making sure there’s enough soap and towels. It’s mostly men from Chandrabhaga Nagar who come in. They want a quick trim or a clean shave before heading to work. We talk about cricket mostly, or whatever is happening in the local news. Sometimes the shop gets crowded on Sundays, and people just sit on the wooden bench outside waiting for their turn. I don’t use any computer for bookings, people just show up and wait. It’s an honest way to make a living. The light inside isn’t the brightest, but it’s enough for me to see what I’m doing. It’s just Prince Saloon, a place where you get what you came for and then go about your day without any trouble. It is a quiet life behind the chair.
