Pawan Sawaji Bhojanalay

If you know Nagpur, you know Golibar Road gets pretty hectic. We are located right at Ganjakhet Chowk, not too far from the Ganesh Mandir. Pawan Sawaji Bhojanalay is where we spend all our days. Making Sawaji food is a long process because of all the spices we have to grind. My wife helps a lot with the recipes we’ve used for years. It gets really hot in the kitchen, especially during the lunch rush when everyone comes in at once. We don’t have fancy chairs or decor. It’s just tables and stools for people to sit and eat quickly before going back to work. The temple nearby brings in a lot of folks on certain days of the week. We start early in the morning to get the meat and vegetables from the market. Nagpur summers are no joke, and being near a stove all day makes it even tougher. But we’ve been doing this for a long time now. The neighbors know us, and we know them. It’s a local place where you hear a lot of Marathi and Hindi being spoken loudly over the sound of traffic outside. We don’t have a website or a big menu. Just whatever we cooked that day is what is available. Sometimes we run out of food early if it’s a busy Friday. That is just how it goes for us.
