Pathan Hair Cutting Salon

I have this small hair cutting shop on Badataj Bag Road in Nagpur. It is right in the Taj Bagh area. If you know where the Urdu School is, we are just a short walk from there. It is a very local neighborhood and everyone knows everyone else. I have been here for a long time and the shop is just a simple room with two chairs and some old mirrors. The walls are a bit faded but they have seen many years of talk and hair cutting. Outside on the road, it is always busy with people going to the school or the local market. During the summer, it gets very hot in Nagpur, so I have a big ceiling fan that stays on all day. We keep a small radio in the corner that plays some old songs while I work. People from the Urdu School often pass by and say hello. It is not a place where you come for anything fancy. It is just a place to get your hair cut and maybe talk about what is happening in the neighborhood. I keep my tools in a wooden drawer and make sure everything is sharp. It is my daily life here on Badataj Bag Road, and I like the familiar faces that come through the door every week. It’s just a plain, honest shop.
