New Bombay Hair Saloon

Over here on Khadgaon Road in Wadi, our shop is usually full of chatter. Being near P D Hospital means there is always people walking by. New Bombay Hair Saloon is just a small place with a few chairs and big mirrors. We start early because the local men like to get their shaves before heading to work in Nagpur. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we spend a lot of time with the broom. It isn’t a luxury spa, just a regular place where you can get a decent haircut without paying too much. The scissors stay sharp and the fans keep the air moving, even when it gets hot outside. We have been in this spot for a long time, watching the traffic go up and down the road. Some of our customers have been coming since they were kids, and now they bring their own sons. We keep the radio on most of the day, playing old songs that everyone knows. It feels like a second home to us. When someone walks in, they usually just grab a newspaper and wait for their turn. There is no fancy booking system here. You just show up and wait. We like the rhythm of the day, from the first snip of the morning to the last customer in the evening. It’s just how things work in Wadi.
