Kapila Sudhy Masale

Kapila Sudhy Masale is over at Plot No-17, near the Deokali Bypash. We are right by Deva Memorial Hospital, so most people use that to find us when they’re coming for the first time. It’s a busy road with a lot of trucks and cars going past all day. We spend most of our time in the back working on the spices. It’s a bit of a dusty job, honestly. We have to wear masks sometimes when we’re grinding the hotter peppers because it gets into the air and makes everyone cough. The building isn't anything fancy, just a regular brick place where we keep our machines and bags of raw ingredients. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too high because the bypass gets really hot. There’s a small tea stall nearby where we go for breaks. We don’t really have a big team, just a few of us who know how to run the grinders and pack the bags. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them with greasy hands. It’s just part of the daily routine here. We’ve been at this spot for a few years and the hospital across the way has grown a lot in that time. We just keep doing our thing, sorting the seeds and making sure the masale are ready for whoever needs them. It’s not a glamorous life but it’s what we do.
