Homemade Khana is located right near Friends Colony on Katol Road. It’s not a restaurant with a dining hall or waiters; it’s more of a kitchen where things are always moving. If you walk past during the morning, you can usually smell whatever is being cooked—onions frying, spices being ground, or fresh dal. We started this because we wanted to do something local and simple. The kitchen stays pretty busy, especially around lunch and dinner time when we’re getting everything packed up. It’s a bit of a squeeze in there sometimes with all the pots and pans, and there’s always a stack of tiffin boxes waiting to be filled. Katol Road is a busy stretch, so there’s always people passing by. Friends Colony is a nice backdrop for what we do because it feels like a real neighborhood. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us in the kitchen, making sure the food tastes like it should. Sometimes the stove acts up or we run out of a certain spice, and someone has to run out to the local market. It’s a very hands-on kind of life. We like being part of the daily routine for people around here. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours standing over the heat, but when the food goes out, it feels worth the effort. It’s just honest cooking in a regular kitchen with people who care.
