Designs & Prototypes

Our workshop is tucked away in the V.S.I. Estate in Thiruvanmiyur at L-24. It’s a bit of a different environment here compared to the bigger industrial parks, but we like the pace of it. At Designs & Prototypes, we spend a lot of time looking at blueprints and trying to figure out how to make a physical version of something that currently only exists on paper. It involves a lot of trial and error, and sometimes we have to start over from scratch if a part doesn’t fit quite right. The benches are usually cluttered with tools, scrap material, and sketches we’ve made during the day. We don't have a big staff, so whoever is available handles the phone or talks to the people dropping off new designs. It’s a hands-on kind of life where you are always learning something new about how materials behave under pressure. Thiruvanmiyur is a nice enough place to work, even if the humidity makes the metal sweat sometimes in the afternoon. We don't use a lot of fancy jargon when we talk to our clients. We just explain what can be done and what might take a little longer to figure out. Most of the people who come to us are looking for a practical solution to a design problem, and we just try to provide that without any unnecessary fuss or complicated contracts.
