We are S. A. Gahlot & Sons, and you can find us on the Bye Pass Road in Makrana, not far from the Gurudwara. This business has been in the family for a long time now. We grew up around marble and it is basically all we know how to do. Our yard is usually packed with slabs of different sizes and types. We spend the morning moving things around with the crane and the rest of the day talking to people who stop by the shop. Being near the Gurudwara is nice because it is a landmark everyone knows. The work is dirty and loud, especially when the saws are running nearby. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. It is just us and a couple of guys who help with the loading and unloading. We tell people the truth about the stones we have in stock. If a piece has a crack or a weird mark, we say so right away. That is just how we were taught to do things by our father. The bypass road gets very dusty and the sun can be brutal in the summer months. We have seen many other shops come and go, but we are still here doing our thing. It is not a glamorous job, but it is honest work and it keeps us going everyday.
