Birla White Cemment

Birla White Cemment is based out here in Khariya Khangar, in the Jolupa Bhopalgarh area. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but this is where the action is for white cement. The landscape around us is quite industrial because of the production work. We spend our days managing the shipments and making sure the bags are stored properly so they don’t get damp. The white dust gets on everything, including our shoes and clothes, so we always look like we’ve been working hard. Khariya Khangar is a specific kind of place, very focused on this one industry. We don’t have a lot of visitors who aren't here for business. The office is just a practical space where we keep the ledgers and answer the phone. It can get pretty hot out here in the middle of the day, so we try to get the heavy loading done early in the morning. We don’t bother with much fancy talk. If someone needs a certain amount of white cement, we tell them if we have it and when it can be picked up. It’s a straightforward way to live. We’ve seen the area change a bit over the years, but the work remains mostly the same. We just keep moving the bags and making sure the trucks are on their way. There is always a lot of noise from the nearby machinery, but you get used to it after a week or two. It’s just how things are out here.
