You can find us at Ram Lal Baesala’s place in the Nagaur district. It’s a rural setting, very typical for this part of Rajasthan. We are a farmer producer company, which basically means a bunch of us got together to make things easier for everyone in the village. The air is often dusty and the sun is hot, but that’s just Nagaur. Our office is a simple room with a fan that makes a bit of noise. We don’t have a fancy logo or a big office building. We just have a table where we keep the registers and a few chairs for when the farmers come by to talk. We deal with whatever is in season. Sometimes it’s cumin, other times it’s something else. We spend a lot of time on the phone trying to find out the market rates. It’s not always easy work. Sometimes the transport doesn’t show up on time and we have to wait around. We know everyone by name here. It’s not like a city business where you’re just a number. If someone has a problem with their crop, we all try to help out. We’re just trying to make a living and keep the community going. We don’t have a lot of rules, just that everyone does their part. It’s simple, honest living. We keep some spare parts for the machines in the corner just in case someone needs them in a hurry.
