Our group is based in Nagaur, specifically in Sant Kabir Nagar at house number 08. That's where Babu Lal Gour’s son stays and helps manage the company. We focus on fruits and vegetables because that's what a lot of us grow in this part of the state. It’s a bit different from grain farming because everything has to move fast before it spoils. We started this producer company to try and get our produce to the markets quicker and maybe get a better price than if we sold individually. The office isn't much to look at—it’s just a room where we keep our logs and have our meetings. We aren't professional businessmen with suits; we are people who spend most of our time in the fields. Nagaur can be quite hot, so we have to be careful with the harvest. We share advice on what grows best in the current conditions. Sometimes we disagree on things, but at the end of the day, we are all neighbors. We don't have a big marketing budget. We just rely on the quality of what we grow. It’s a lot of early mornings and late nights, especially when the trucks need to be loaded. We just want to keep things running so the local families can keep farming. It's basic, honest work and we do what we can to help each other out. We handle all the local varieties that people in Nagaur have grown for ages. It's just what we do every day.
