Prayash

Our place, Prayash, is located in Shantinagar, specifically on the 14 Foot road in Madanpur. It’s a quiet part of Nadia, though it’s definitely getting busier lately with more houses going up. We started out as a small local venture to help with everyday needs in the community. We don’t have a big corporate structure or any of those fancy titles. It’s just a few of us trying to make things work every day. The shop—or office, depending on how you look at it—is pretty simple and basic. We have some old wooden furniture and a lot of notebooks where we keep track of everything manually. People from around the neighborhood stop by often, sometimes just to chat or ask for a bit of help with something they don't understand. We deal with a variety of things, mostly related to local supplies and helping folks with their paperwork or services. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we know where everything is kept. The 14 Foot road is where most of the action happens around here, so we see a lot of familiar faces every morning. We’ve been here for several years now and have seen the seasons change many times. We don't have a website or any big advertisements. Word of mouth is how most people find us. We just try to be fair with everyone and do a decent job. It’s a modest living, but it keeps us busy and connected to the people in the community.
