Working at the industrial suburb in Mysore South means we get an early start before the heat really sets in. The building at number three is where we spend most of our daylight hours. It is an industrial area so there is always a bit of noise from the neighboring units and the sound of trucks reversing nearby. Inside, the floor is concrete and can get a bit dusty if we don’t sweep it every single morning. We have some heavy appliances sitting in the corner and stacks of food-related supplies that need sorting. It is not a glamorous job by any means. Most of the staff live nearby so we often see each other at the small tea stall down the road during the lunch break. The office part is just a small partitioned area with a couple of old chairs and a computer that takes forever to boot up. We deal with a lot of paperwork regarding the logistics of moving goods around the state. It gets busy during the harvest seasons and then things quiet down a bit during the monsoon. We don't have a big sign out front or anything like that. People just know where the gate is. Usually, we are just focused on keeping the machines running and making sure the inventory counts are not too far off at the end of the week.
