Hebbal has changed a lot over the years, but the Industrial Estate where Vinay Products is located still feels pretty much the same. We are at No. A-110, which is a decent-sized unit for what we do. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of the machines and the smell of whatever materials we’re working with that day. We produce a variety of things, and the floor layout changes depending on what the current project is. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, as there are always metal shavings or bits of plastic near the workstations, but we sweep up every evening. We have a small crew, and everyone knows how to run at least two or three different machines. Lunch is usually spent sitting on some crates outside in the shade if the weather is nice. We don't have a big HR department or a fancy lobby. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us in our work shirts with a bit of dirt on our hands. We just focus on making the products and getting them loaded onto the trucks. Sometimes a machine breaks down, and we spend the whole afternoon trying to figure out which part needs replacing. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The estate gets quiet after six, and that’s when we usually finish up and head out.
