If you walk down Dadar East near the Chitra Cinema, you’ll find us in the Yusuf Building at number 8. Wooden Art is basically a place where there is always some sawdust on the floor and the smell of varnish in the air. We aren't a big factory or anything like that. It’s just a workshop and a small area where we talk to people about what they need. Being opposite the cinema means it’s always lively outside. We hear the crowds coming out after the movies, which is a nice change of pace from the sound of our tools. Our workspace is a bit cramped because we have pieces of wood leaning against every wall. We try to keep things tidy, but it’s hard when you’re busy working on a table or a cupboard. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. People just come in, look at what we are making, and tell us what they want for their homes. We’ve been in this building for years. Most of our tools are old, but they still work just fine. We have a small corner where we keep the kettle for making coffee. It’s a simple life, working with our hands and seeing the wood turn into something useful. We just stay here and do the work day by day without any fuss.
