We are based in Voltas House on Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Chinchpokli. It’s an old part of Mumbai and the building itself has been around for a long time. You can feel the history when you walk through the doors. The A-Block is where most of the daily grind happens. We deal with a lot of cooling systems and heavy electrical stuff. The neighborhood is always noisy with the trains nearby and the general chaos of Mumbai streets. Inside, it’s a mix of old wooden desks and newer computers. We spend a lot of time looking at blueprints or checking inventory lists for spare parts. The hallways are a bit narrow and you’re always bumping into someone carrying a stack of files or a piece of equipment. During the monsoon, we have to keep an eye on the windows to make sure the rain doesn't get in. We have a small tea stall just outside the gates where most of us go for a break. It’s a very grounded place to work. There are no fancy lounges or anything like that. We just focus on the machines and the orders. Some of the staff have been working in this building for thirty years and they know every creak in the floorboards. It’s just a steady, practical place where we get the job done and deal with the heat like everyone else in the city.
