We spend most of our days here at Nandham Industrial Society, right across from Reay Road Station. If you know the West side, you know how busy it gets with the trains and people rushing around. Our units are 19, 20, and 21. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes when we have big sign boards and displays taking up all the floor space. The guys are usually busy with cutters or moving frames around. It gets pretty loud. We’ve been on Mhatre Marg for a while now. The tea stall nearby is where we usually end up when things get too hectic. Working with displays means there is always scrap material sitting in the corner waiting to be cleared out. The lights in the workshop flickered for two days last week before we finally fixed the wiring. It’s not a fancy place, just a workspace where we get things done. Some mornings the traffic on the road is so bad we can barely get the delivery van out of the gate. We just try to keep up with the orders that come in. Most of the time, the radio is playing in the background while someone is painting or measuring metal. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the weather gets humid and the fans don’t do much. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily tasks as they come. It is just us here in the units.
