If you are looking for Vikman Marine Services, you have to head over to Forjett Street. We are in the B Wing, right across from the Bhati Hostel in Anand Nagar. It’s a lively neighborhood, that’s for sure. There is always something going on with the students at the hostel and the people moving through the street. Our office is a bit of a tight squeeze with all the marine manuals and technical files we keep around. You can usually find a couple of us hunched over a desk trying to sort out service schedules for the ships. It’s not the quietest place because the street sounds come right up through the windows. We’ve got some old chairs that have seen better days, but they are comfortable enough for a long shift. Being in the B Wing means we have to walk up a bit, but it gives us a decent view of the street below. We don’t put on any airs here. The coffee is usually just instant from the jar, and we drink it while we talk about the latest job. Sometimes the rain in Mumbai makes it a real challenge to get to work on time, but we usually make it in. We’ve been at this for a while, so we know the routine inside and out. It’s just a small team of us making sure the marine side of things keeps ticking over without any major hiccups or delays.
