Venus Mobiles

Venus Mobiles is situated near the junction of Gangadhar Chetty Road and Dickenson Road. We are quite close to Ulsoor Lake, so the air feels a little different here compared to the center of the city. On some days, you can smell the water when the breeze is right. The shop isn't very large. We have just enough space for the display cases and a small workbench in the corner. Most of my day is spent under a magnifying lamp looking at tiny screws and ribbons. It’s quiet work, which I don't mind. Outside, the traffic can be a nightmare, especially during the evenings. Mumbai never really stops, does it? We see a lot of tourists because of the lake, but our main business comes from the folks who live right here on Dickenson Road. They come in for a recharge or because their speakers stopped working. I’ve learned to fix most things just by doing them over and over. I don't have any formal training, just years of trial and error at this desk. The floor is made of old tiles that have seen better days. I keep a fan running all day to deal with the humidity and the heat. It’s a basic setup, but it works for us. We don't have a big sign, just the name painted on the glass. It’s been that way for a long time now. We just do our thing and go home once the sun sets.
