It is pretty noisy here at Vadel Call Centre most days. We are tucked away in the Swami Vivekanand Inds on Handewadi Road 5 in Lower Parel, which is a busy area to be in. People are always on the phone, talking to customers or trying to sort out issues that come up. It isn’t some fancy high-rise office with glass walls, just a regular space where the work gets done. Most of us have been here a while and know how the systems work, even when the computers act up. The commute to Lower Parel can be a headache with all the traffic, but we manage to get in on time usually. Sometimes the tea break is the highlight of the afternoon when things get stressful. We just handle the calls as they come in and try to keep things moving. There are plenty of desks crammed into the room and there is always someone talking in the background. It is a lot of coordination between different shifts. We don’t have any big slogans or anything like that. It is just a job that needs doing every day. The office layout is a bit cramped but it works for what we do. You see the same faces every morning and we just get on with the tasks. It's a typical call center environment with headsets everywhere and lists of numbers to go through. We try to keep the coffee machine running because we really need it to stay awake.
