United Milling Works

Our shop is Number 3 over in Vasant Nagar, Malad West. We are right on Link Road, so the traffic noise is pretty much constant throughout the day. If you look across the street, you’ll see the Evershine Mall, which is a big change from how this area used to look years ago. Here at United Milling Works, it’s mostly about the machinery and the smell of metal and oil. It’s a working shop, so it isn't the cleanest place you’ll ever visit. There are shavings on the floor and tools spread out over the benches. We spend most of our hours working on whatever parts or milling jobs have come in that week. It’s honest work that leaves your hands dirty at the end of the shift. The neighbors in the other shops are mostly doing similar mechanical or trade work. We’ve seen the mall bring a lot more people to this part of Malad, but inside the shop, things stay pretty much the same. We have our old machines that we know how to handle, and we just keep them running. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a polished showroom. It’s just a spot where things get made or fixed. We take the work as it comes and try to stay on top of the pile of orders.
