Bearing House

Bearing House is located on the first floor of Manek Bhavan. It’s Room No 101, at Plot No.137 on Narayan Dhruv Street. If you’ve ever been to Masjid Bunder, you know it’s a maze of narrow lanes and old buildings. Our place is no different. You have to walk up some old, steep stairs to find us. It’s usually quite dark in the hallway, but once you get inside the room, it’s filled with boxes of bearings from floor to ceiling. We’ve been in this building for many years. It’s a tight squeeze, especially when we get a large shipment in. Narayan Dhruv Street is always crowded with handcarts and people carrying heavy loads on their heads. It’s a noisy place to work, but you get used to the sound of the market after a while. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most of our business happens over the counter or via phone calls from other traders in the area. I spend a lot of time checking part numbers and making sure the inventory is right. The building itself has a lot of history. Sometimes the lift doesn't work, so we end up carrying things up and down the stairs. It’s hard on the back, but it’s part of the trade here at Masjid Bunder. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It is just a basic shop in an old part of town.
