We've been here on the ground floor on Nagdevi Street for a long while now. It's a busy, cramped spot in Chippi Chawl, and if you know the area, you know how the traffic is. Usually, people come in looking for very specific industrial parts or tools they can't find elsewhere. We keep a lot of stock squeezed into the back and on high shelves because you never know what someone might need for an old machine. Most of the guys working here know the regulars by their first names. It gets pretty loud outside with the handcarts and the shouting, but we just keep at it. Some days are more chaotic than others, especially when a big shipment arrives and we have to find space for it. We try to keep things organized in our own way, but in a small place like this, it’s always a struggle. If someone calls up asking for a price, we usually have to go and physically check the shelf ourselves. It isn't some fancy glass office. We have old metal desks and stacks of papers everywhere. People stop by on their way through Kalbadevi just to see if we have something in. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but the way we do business stays mostly the same. We just provide the items people ask for. Sometimes we have to source things from other suppliers nearby. It’s just how the market works here. We open early and stay until we're done.
