Our little toy library is tucked inside Ruchi Appt. here in Borivali West. It’s on Plot No. A-001, so you don’t have to look too hard once you get to Devi Dass Lane. It’s mostly just shelves and shelves of puzzles, cars, and blocks that we’ve gathered over time. The place usually smells like the disinfectant we use to wipe everything down after it comes back from a family. We started this because children outgrow things so fast and the house just fills up with plastic. This way, the toys keep moving from one home to another. It gets pretty loud on Saturday mornings when parents bring their kids in to swap things out. There’s usually someone digging through a bin of LEGOs or trying to find a missing piece of a board game. We spend a lot of time counting parts and taping up boxes that have seen better days. The apartment isn't huge, so we have to stay organized, or you can't even walk across the floor. Sometimes it feels like a bit of a mess, but it’s a good kind of mess. We know the neighbors pretty well by now. If you're walking down the lane, you'll see us. It’s a simple operation, really. Just some folks helping kids have something new to play with without spending a fortune every single time they want a new toy. We just keep the records in a notebook and hope for the best.
