Ujwal Plastic Industries is located down at M C Chagala Marg in Sewree West. We occupy numbers 312 and 322. It’s a factory setting, so it’s never really quiet. There’s always the smell of plastic and the sound of machines running in the background. It’s not a place for a suit and tie. Most of us are in work clothes that get stained pretty easily. We’ve been at this location for years and the building shows its age. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with production to worry about that. We make all kinds of plastic parts. It's a lot of repetitive work, watching the molds and making sure nothing gets stuck. The loading area is always a mess of pallets and shrink wrap. Truck drivers are constantly coming and going. It’s a bit chaotic during the morning shift. We take our breaks in a small room near the back. It’s a tough job but it's honest. We don’t have a big marketing department. We just fulfill the orders as they come in. The heat from the machines can be a lot during the summer months. Everyone just keeps their head down and does their part. It's just a regular industrial unit in Sewree doing what we know how to do best. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we spend the whole afternoon covered in grease trying to get it moving again. That's just part of the day here. We don't complain much, we just get on with it.
