If you walk down Akurli Road in Vadan Pada, you might see us near the Vishwakrma Mandir. Our workshop is usually full of colorful threads and small beads scattered around. We spend a lot of time sitting and putting things together for the festivals. It is a bit of a mess sometimes, but that is just how it goes when you are working with so many small parts. Being in Hanumannagar means we are surrounded by families and small shops. We can hear the sounds from the temple throughout the day, which is nice. It keeps the mood calm even when we are rushing to finish an order. My hands are often stained with different dyes, and there is always someone coming in to ask about a specific design. We don't really have a big corporate setup. It is just a bunch of us doing what we know how to do. The walk from Jb Nagar Road can be a bit long in the heat, but this is where we have always been. We’ve grown used to the crowded lanes and the way the sun hits the street in the afternoon. Making rakhis is something we take seriously because people use them for their brothers and family. We just try to make sure every piece is tied right and looks okay before it goes out the door. It’s simple work but it fills our days.
