Thirupathi Wood Works

Down in Byculla, you’ll find us at Thirupathi Wood Works. We are in Unit No 5 inside the Suryaji Compound. It’s a dusty place, as you’d expect from a wood shop. There’s always sawdust on the floor and the sound of saws going. We’ve been working out of this compound for a long time. It’s a bit of an old industrial area, so the buildings have some character. We handle all kinds of wood projects, mostly just cutting and joining things as requested. It’s not a high-tech factory; we use old tools that have been with us for years. The space in Unit 5 is just enough for our benches and the wood we keep in stock. Sometimes it’s hard to move around when we have a big order. Byculla is a central spot, which makes it easier for us to get materials delivered. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room, just the workshop. If you come by, you’ll likely see us covered in dust and focused on a piece of timber. We take our time to get the measurements right. It’s honest work that leaves your hands rough, but we enjoy seeing a finished piece. The compound gets quite busy with trucks, so it’s never really quiet. We just keep doing our thing every day, piece by piece, without making much of a fuss. It’s a good way to earn a living in this city.
