The Homemakers

Our little spot is at A/20 in Mulund East. It’s not a big showroom or anything, just a simple place where we handle things for the home. We’ve been in Mulund for a good while and we like the neighborhood because it feels a bit more relaxed than the city center. Most of the time we are busy with fabrics or looking at designs and trying to figure out what would look good in a regular house. We don't have a team of fancy designers, just us and our ideas. Sometimes we get a bit behind on orders because we’re taking our time to get things right. The shop is often cluttered with swatches and tools we use for our work. People from the nearby buildings often drop in just to see what we are working on. We don't really have a big marketing plan, word just travels around the colony. It gets a bit noisy when the trains go by nearby, but you stop noticing it after a few weeks. We drink a lot of coffee and try to keep the place organized, though it usually ends up messy by the end of the week. It’s a small family-run kind of thing, so we don't follow strict corporate hours. If the work is there, we stay late. If it’s slow, we might close up early and go home. It’s just how we operate. We like to chat with the neighbors and keep things friendly while we work on various household items for people around the area.
