Tejas Plastics

Working at Tejas Plastics means being right in the middle of the chaos of Bazaar Street in Ghatkopar West. Our shop is at number 11 in the Avadhut Co-Op. Hsg. Soc. L building. It’s a busy neighborhood, and there is always a lot of shouting and horn-honking right outside the door. Inside, we have plastic items of every description piled on shelves that reach all the way to the top. We have to use a small ladder to reach the things at the back. Most of the people who come in are our neighbors from the housing society or people living in the surrounding lanes. We spend a lot of time chatting with them while they decide what they want to buy. It’s a very social place in that way. We don’t have any fancy displays; we just put the stock out where people can see it. The floor is made of old tiles that are a bit worn down from all the foot traffic over the years. We keep a small notebook to write down what we need to restock for the next week. By the time the sun starts to set, Bazaar Street gets even more crowded, and we usually have to squeeze through the people just to get the shop shutters down. It’s a lot of work, but it’s a good spot to be in the heart of Ghatkopar.
