We have been sitting here in Chembur Gandhinagar for quite a few years now. The shop is right near Vijaya Talkies, so everyone knows the spot. It started out with just a few basic tools and a lot of hard work. My father used to handle everything himself back then. Now we have a few more hands helping out. The place is usually full of steel sheets and the sound of machines cutting through metal. It gets a bit noisy during the day, but that is just how it is. People come in looking for cupboards, racks, or maybe a simple chair for their home. We don't have a fancy showroom with big lights. It is just a workspace where things get made. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere and the paint takes time to dry when it is raining outside. We try to get things done when we say we will, but sometimes the materials arrive late or a machine breaks down. It is a small setup here at number 10. We know most of the people around this part of Chembur. They stop by just to chat or ask about a price. We use a lot of heavy steel because that is what lasts. It is not like that thin stuff you see in big malls. If someone wants a specific size for their kitchen or office, we just measure it and start working. It keeps us busy from morning till the evening when the street gets crowded. We just do our work and go home.
