Suraj M Shah is located at 47 Cawasji Patel Street on the 2nd floor of the Wadia Building which is one of those old Mumbai buildings with a lot of character. You have to walk up the stairs since the old lift is not always the most reliable thing in the world but it gives you a bit of exercise I suppose. The office is at number 9 B and it is filled with stacks of files and the kind of heavy wooden furniture that lasts forever. It can get a bit warm in the afternoons but we have the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through the narrow street below. We have been operating from here for quite some time now and we have gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood and the way the light hits the walls in the evening. Most of our day is spent dealing with paperwork and taking calls from people who have been coming to us for years. We do not have a big sign outside or a polished lobby because everyone who needs to find us already knows exactly where we are. It is a quiet kind of place where things get done at their own pace without too much stress or hurry. Sometimes the neighbors from the other offices drop by to chat for a minute and then we get back to our folders and ledgers. It is just how we like it here.
