Surabhi Venkatesh Mobile

Dadar West is always a bit of a scramble, especially on S B Marg where Surabhi Venkatesh Mobile is located. There are people everywhere and the noise from the street never really stops until very late at night. We open the shutters around ten and immediately start looking at the phones people left for repair the night before. It’s mostly broken charging ports or screens that stopped working. We keep a lot of secondhand phones in the display case too. It’s a small shop, so if three customers come in at once, it feels crowded. We spend a lot of time explaining how different data plans work or helping older folks fix their settings. The lighting inside is a bit bright, but it helps when you're working with tiny screws. We get our tea from the guy across the street twice a day. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the door during monsoon, so we have to keep the floor wiped. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in Dadar, we just want to get the repairs done right so people don't come back complaining. It’s a lot of staring at small screens and handling cash. By the time we close up, my eyes are usually tired, but it's okay because the work is steady.
