Status Computers

If you live around Malad East, you probably know how crowded Pushpa Park gets in the evenings. Our shop, Status Computers, is right there in Hira Nws. It’s not a big place, just enough room for a few workbenches and a lot of spare parts. I’ve been fixing laptops and desktops here for a long time now. Most days are spent cleaning out dust from fans or trying to figure out why a motherboard stopped working. We see a lot of students from the nearby areas who bring in their computers when the screens go dark. It’s a bit messy with cables everywhere, but that’s how a repair shop usually looks. My cousin helps out when things get really busy, especially during the exams when everyone needs their machines fixed immediately. We are near Daftary and Orlem, so it's a central spot for anyone living on this side of the station. We don’t have fancy sales talk here. If something can be fixed, we tell you. If it’s junk, we tell you that too. It’s a simple business. We drink way too much coffee and stay open late most nights because that’s when people finish work and bring their stuff in. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside and talk to the neighbors until it comes back. It’s a decent way to make a living and we know most of the faces around Malad by now after all these years.
