People come to us at Shop No 22 in the Del Geetha building when their electronics stop working. We are the Sony Service Centre in Andheri. Most of the day is spent looking at screens or opening up devices to see what’s wrong inside. It’s a small shop and it can get quite cramped when there are three or four customers waiting at the counter. We have a lot of shelves filled with boxes and parts that are waiting to be used. Andheri is always moving, so we get people dropping things off on their way to work. We don't have a big fancy lobby. There are just a couple of stools and a counter where we take down your details. Sometimes the parts take a week to arrive and we have to explain that to frustrated people. It’s not our fault but we understand why they're annoyed. We try to be honest about how much it will cost. Fixing things takes patience and a steady hand. Our technicians usually have their heads down, working under bright lights. We don't use much jargon. We just tell you if it can be fixed or if it’s time to get a new one. It’s a basic service, really. We keep track of everything on paper and a computer. It’s a busy little spot in a loud part of the city. We don't always get it right on the first try but we keep at it until the job is done.
