Sonu Internationals is tucked away in shops 329 and 330 on the first floor over in the Pow area of Powai. It’s a very busy part of the city, so there’s always a lot of noise coming up from the main street. We’ve got two shop spaces joined together because one just wasn’t enough room for all the stock we keep. It’s a bit of a maze inside with boxes and heavy shelves everywhere you look. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a practical place where things get moved in and out all day long. The staff has been here for years, and we all know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone else walking in for the first time. People come up the stairs looking for specific items, and we usually have what they need buried somewhere in the back. Powai has changed a lot since we first started, with new buildings everywhere, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We have a small, cluttered desk for the paperwork, but someone is usually standing up or moving boxes around. It’s a straightforward, practical business. We don’t spend money on expensive signs or bright lights to attract people. We just keep the inventory moving and talk to the regulars who walk in. It’s a lot of hard work, but we are used to the rhythm of the shop and the neighborhood by now. We stay busy with orders.
