Shree Signages is over here at 3 By 1 Shanti Compound in Kherwadi Central, East Mumbai. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know how the compounds are—a bit crowded and always humming with some kind of activity. Our space is pretty small and packed with all the tools and materials we use for making signs. The humidity in Mumbai can be a real pain, especially when we are waiting for paint or glue to dry, so there’s usually a bit of a wait involved in everything we do. The compound can get quite muddy when it rains, and we often have to navigate around puddles to get materials in and out. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside, with metal sheets and plastic bits leaning against the walls. We don’t have any fancy signs for ourselves, ironically enough. We just go about our business in the middle of the Kherwadi bustle. Sometimes the noise from the other units in the compound is so loud we have to shout to be heard, but you get used to it after a while. It’s a hardworking atmosphere, and we’re just one part of the local mix. We don’t have a big office team or anything, just a few of us handling the daily grind in this little corner of the city. Usually, the day ends with us packing things up and making sure everything is covered before the morning.
