Shree Sainath Communication Center

Shree Sainath Communication Center is located in Santacruz East, right in the Sakinaka 1 area. It is a small shop, mostly filled with the sound of the traffic outside. Sakinaka is always crowded, so there is never a quiet moment. We spend the day sitting behind the small counter, dealing with whatever comes up. The walls are painted a simple off-white that has faded over the years. We have some chairs for people to sit, but they are mostly old and worn out. The floor is just plain cement, which makes it easy to clean after a busy day. We don't have any big decorations or fancy lights. The main light bulb hangs from a wire and flickers sometimes when the power fluctuates. Santacruz East is a busy place to be, and being at Sakinaka 1 means we see a lot of the street action. We keep a small notebook to write down things that need to be done. The door stays open all day to let in some air, even if it brings in the noise and the smoke from the vehicles. It is just a place where we do our work and keep things running. We don't really think about it much, it’s just our daily routine. Every evening, we pull the shutter down and lock up, ready to do the same thing tomorrow when the sun comes up.
