If you walk down Samuel Street in Goregaon, you’ll eventually pass our place. We handle acrylic sheets and cutting. The shop is usually full of offcuts and different colored pieces of plastic. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We have the big saw in the back which makes a lot of dust. We try to keep it tidy, but it's hard when you're busy all day. Most of our work is just cutting things to size for people. They come in with a piece of paper with some measurements written on it. We do our best to get it right. Sometimes we make mistakes and have to start over. That’s just part of the job. There’s no big office here, just a small stool and a counter. We’ve been on this street for quite a while now. The neighbors are good people. We share lunch sometimes or help move things when a truck arrives. It’s not a fancy life. We just work with our hands and the tools we have. The smell of the cutting machine is something you never really lose. We don't bother with brochures or sales talk. People see the signs we’ve made out front and they come in. It’s a steady stream of work. We keep the doors open until the sun goes down. It’s what we do. It’s not perfect, but it is honest work that keeps us going every day.
