I run my contracting business out of Raju Nagar in Kandivali East. We are located near Indira Chowk, in the Padmakar Singh Compound, which is quite close to the Poisar Bus Depot. Most of the time, I am not even at the office because I am out at different sites checking on the progress of a renovation or a small building project. We do all sorts of civil work, like tiling, painting, and basic masonry. I have a small crew of guys I've worked with for years. We don't use fancy equipment; it is mostly just hammers, trowels, and ladders. Managing a site can be messy and things often go differently than planned, but we just deal with it as it happens. I’ve lived in this part of Kandivali for a long time, so I know a lot of the local suppliers for sand and cement. We don't take on massive skyscraper projects. We stick to house repairs and shop interiors for the most part. It’s a lot of talking to homeowners and figuring out what they want within their budget. I don't have a brochure or a big sign outside. Most of my work comes from people who saw a wall we painted or a floor we laid and asked who did it. It is hard work, especially in the heat, but we just keep going day by day. Sometimes we have to work weekends to finish a job.
