Shantanu Electronics

Shantanu Electronics is a small shop at 87, Naik Chawl, located on Jawkar Lane along V. N. Purav Marg in the Sion-Chunabhatti area of Mumbai. This is a busy part of the city, and our shop is right in the thick of it. The space is filled with all sorts of things, from old television sets waiting for parts to wires and circuit boards scattered on the workbench. It is the kind of place where you can smell the solder in the air. We have been here for years, and the neighbors in the chawl know us well. If something breaks in their house, they usually just bring it over to see if it can be fixed. It is not a shiny showroom with bright lights. It is a working man's shop. We spend a lot of time squinting at small components and trying to figure out why a piece of equipment stopped working. Mumbai is a place where people like to repair things rather than just throwing them away, so we stay pretty busy. The lane outside is narrow and always has people moving back and forth, but inside we just focus on the task at hand. It is a simple life, fixing electronics and chatting with the people who drop by. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the people who walk past our door every day in Sion-Chunabhatti.
