Our shop, Shah Bhimraj Bhabutmal Co, is tucked away in Kalbadevi. Specifically, we are at 196 Daftary Road. If you know where Mumbadevi Temple is, then you are pretty close to us. That whole area is always packed with people and carts moving things around. It’s a lot of noise and energy, which is just part of being in this part of town. The building has been here forever. We don't have a modern lobby or a receptionist greeting you at the door. It’s more of a place where you just walk in and see us working at the old desks. Things can get a bit dusty with the windows open, but we like the breeze. We have been doing this for a long time, following the same routine day in and day out. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a short break, but mostly we are focusing on the ledger and the customers who come in. It’s a busy life here near the temple. You have to watch where you step on the sidewalk because there’s always something being unloaded. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. It’s a straightforward business and we keep our heads down. The phone rings a lot, and there is always mail to sort through. It is just a typical Kalbadevi day, full of hard work and many cups of tea to keep us going.
