Sanika Art

Sanika Art is located in the Ashirwad Building on Nehru Road. We are in Santacruz East, which is a pretty crowded part of Mumbai. Being near St. Anthony High Boys School means there are always kids and parents running around in the mornings and afternoons. It makes the street very busy. Our shop isn't very large, but we have everything we need inside the Ashirwad Building. We've been doing art work here for a long time. It’s mostly just a few of us working every day. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It is just a practical space where we can focus on the jobs we have. Nehru Road can get very congested with traffic, so we are used to the honking and the noise. We just keep our heads down and do the work. A lot of our customers are from the local neighborhood or the school nearby. We have grown to like this little corner of Santacruz. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s ours. We often have stuff drying on the racks, so you have to be careful where you walk when you come in. The bells from the school ring throughout the day, which helps us keep track of time without looking at a clock. We’ve had a few leaks in the ceiling during the monsoons, but we just put out buckets and carry on. It’s not the most glamorous place, but it’s home.
