Sainath Traders

Sainath Traders is right at Shop No.01, directly across from the Penunsula Techno Park on LBS Road in Kurla West. It’s a bit of a funny contrast because the Techno Park is all glass and steel, while our shop is just a plain, small room on the ground floor. LBS Road is always packed with cars and buses, so there’s a lot of noise and dust coming in from the street. We keep a rag handy just to wipe down the counter every few hours. The shop is filled with various items we trade, and sometimes the boxes are stacked so high you can't see the back wall. We have a small light bulb hanging from the ceiling that flickers occasionally. It’s just me and one other person here most days. We drink a lot of tea and watch the people going in and out of the big offices across the street. Our customers are mostly locals who have been coming to us for years. We don't have a computer system; we just write everything down in a notebook. It works for us. When it rains, the water splashes up from the road, so we have to move everything back a few feet from the entrance. It’s a busy, cramped, and somewhat messy place, but it’s our shop. We’ve been in Kurla West long enough to know the rhythm of the traffic.
