We are tucked away on Ram Mandir Road right in the center of Goregaon. It is a crowded neighborhood, so getting the big trucks in and out can be a real headache sometimes. You have to time it just right or you will get stuck in the local traffic for an hour. Our place is basically a hub for the cement coming through this part of town. It is an old building, nothing like those new glass towers you see popping up everywhere else in Mumbai. The walls have some cracks and the paint is peeling, but it does what we need it to do. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the manifests to see what is arriving next. It gets pretty humid in the warehouse during the monsoon, and we have to be extra careful to keep everything dry. Wet cement is useless, so we are always checking for leaks in the roof. The tea stall around the corner is where we spend most of our breaks. We know the neighbors pretty well since we have been here a while. It is a lot of noise and a lot of movement, but we have got a system that works for us. We are not trying to be anything we are not. We just move the bags, sign the papers, and try to get home before the evening rush starts on the main roads. It is a simple operation in a busy city.
