S. S. & Sons

Our family shop, S. S. & Sons, is located at number 22 in the Navbharat Shopping Center. It’s right in the middle of the Tagore Nagar Market on Station Road in Vikhroli East. This place has been in the family for two generations now. My father started it, and now I run it with my sons. It’s a typical market shop. It’s loud, it’s busy, and there’s never enough space for everything we want to put on the shelves. Being so close to the station means there’s a constant stream of people. We see the morning rush and then the evening crowd coming home from work. The shopping center is old, and it has that specific smell of concrete and spices from the nearby stalls. We spend most of our time talking to customers and fetching things from the high shelves. I have a small stool I sit on when my legs get tired, but that’s not often. My sons want to change how we do things, maybe get a computer for the billing, but for now, we still use the old notebooks. It’s a lively spot to spend a day. We know all the other shopkeepers around here. We watch each other’s shops when one of us needs to run an errand. It’s a community. It’s not always easy, especially when the heat is bad in Vikhroli, but we’re used to it. That's just how life at the market goes.
