Ruby Electronic Services

Over on Tribhuvan Road in Sion, you'll find Ruby Electronic Services at number 62. It’s a bit of a walk from the main crossing, but we’ve been in this spot long enough that most locals know the way. The workbench is always covered in tools and bits of wire because there’s always something halfway finished. We handle electronics, mostly stuff that people brought in because it stopped turning on. It’s a quiet kind of work, sitting there with the soldering iron. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack the finished repairs on the high shelves. Sometimes the rain leaks a bit near the front door during monsoon, so we have to move everything back. We don't spend money on big signs or bright paint. Most of our customers are people from the nearby apartments who don't want to buy new stuff when the old stuff can still work. We just take a look at the circuit boards and see what’s wrong. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. Sometimes we stay late when a particularly tricky job comes in. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the shop on the street where you can drop off your gadgets and we tell you if they can be saved. It takes patience to find where a connection went bad.
