If you walk into Shop Number 30 at Ganjawala Shopping Center, you will see us surrounded by piles of navy blue and white cloth. Being in Borivali West on S.V.P. Road means there is always a crowd outside. Our shop isn't very big, so we have to use every inch of space for the sewing machines and the cutting tables. Usually, there is a radio playing somewhere in the back to keep the mood light while the tailors work. We deal with a lot of parents coming in with their kids for school fittings. It can get pretty chaotic during the start of the term. Measuring a wiggly child isn't the easiest job in the world. We have chalk marks on almost every surface. The lighting inside is a bit bright because we need to see the stitches clearly. Sometimes a customer comes in complaining that the trousers are too long, so we have to fix it right then and there. It is a lot of repetitive work, cutting the same patterns over and over, but we are used to it. The shopping center is old, and everyone knows everyone else. We share snacks and talk about the traffic on the main road. It is just a regular local shop where we try to get the uniforms ready before the school bells ring. It's a living, and it keeps us on our toes most days with all the last minute requests we get.
