N Mehta Sons

You can find N Mehta Sons on the second floor of 89/91 Dhanji Street. We are right near Zaveri Bazar, which means the area is constantly buzzing with people and carts and motorbikes. It’s an old building, so you have to walk up the stairs to get to us, but we’ve been here for years and we’re used to it. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many things tucked away in drawers and cabinets. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and you can usually tell as soon as you walk in. There’s no corporate vibe here at all. We might be having lunch at the main table or arguing about where a specific file went. We know most of the people on the street and have been dealing with the same suppliers for a long time. It’s the kind of place where things are done with a handshake and a lot of talking. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology unless we really have to. Most of our records are still kept in big ledgers or on scraps of paper. It’s definitely not the most modern way to do things, but it’s worked for us since the beginning. We like the history of the neighborhood and the fact that we’re right in the middle of all the action. It feels right being here on Dhanji Street with everyone else.
